Mortal Kombat has been around for ages. It was one of the first fighting games to come out, and it was the most realistic of its time. It stretched the way gamers saw fighting, and made way for many sequels. One of these sequels recently came out for the Game Boy Advanced, and for me, it was a big disappointment.
When I first put this game in, I was amazed at how many characters it provided.
Every character that was in Mortal Kombat Trilogy was in this game, and yet
the cartridge was so small. Then I realized its downside, the fighting. Mortal
Kombat being a fighting game I expected so much more.
While fighting, the characters were choppy, and in essence, all looked the same
except for color and size changes. The moves were easy enough to pull off, but
on a normal setting, doing the moves was pointless. The AI was not configured
right or something, because no matter what, the only way they wouldn’t
block everything was to put it on very easy. Even then you would have to constantly
use cheap tactics to win, such as constantly sweeping, jumping and kicking over
and over, doing Lui Kang’s lower fireball, or continuously punching while
standing still.
The storyline for this game was nothing new, and was in no way as interesting
as Deadly Alliance. The fatalities were sorta cool however, but fatalities are
always cool. They were nothing extraordinary though, and these basic fatalities
were not very fulfilling, and once I beat the game I felt betrayed of my money.
In short, I did not want to play this game after a week.
This game is only slightly cheatable, letting you use a hidden character after
you beat the game on certain settings, go to Gamewinners.com
to find out how.
This game is beatable, but the fighting is poorly done, making it hard to win
without using cheap tactics
This game has multiplayer combat, but you need a friend who has the game and
their own GBA
Rentable, but save your money, do not buy this game.
Altogether this game gets a 1 out of 10
