Review of
Prince Of Persia: The Sands of Time (PS2)
By Ryan Wellman

The original Prince of Persia was released in 1990, five years after it was published. It was a game of skill, since any slight movement would mean immediate death. Now it’s back, and in beautiful three-dimensional harmony. Prince of Persia, Sands of Time is by far one of the most enjoyable adventure games of its time. It comes across as a mix between Aladdin, Mario, and Zelda, resulting in a really fun and innovative game.

The story starts out with the King of Persia and his son. They just recently have defeated the powerful Maharajah and are looting their valuables when the son discovers a mysterious dagger. He decides it is the lightest thing to carry, and probably the most valuable. When he picks it up he realizes he can control the flow of time. With it, he is tricked, by a dying vizier, into unleashing the sands of time. The sands destroy his entire civilization except him and a mysterious woman. Together you two must restore order and stop this evil vizier from conquering the world.

Along the way you run on walls, avoid traps of many kinds, unlock doors, and solve puzzles which will make your head spin. There are sand demons everywhere, demons that have possessed your entire city. These demons are seemingly immortal, and must be absorbed into your dagger. Visions of the future will help to ensure your success.

I loved everything about this game, its music, its graphics, and even its smooth and flowing story. The controls for this game are really responsive and easy to use. Whoever this prince may be, he is very freaking acrobatic. He can do such amazing things, and seemingly impossible attacks, making it obvious why he is the hero. I had so much fun with this game, and even nongamers watching me were absorbed into it. That’s very rare, and really means something in today’s gaming market. This game is a must buy.
