Review of
Star Wars Battlefront (PS2, Xbox)
By Ryan Wellman

This game was addictive. I never got bored with this game, and while I slept I could hear the sound of laser fire and shouts of battle. I haven’t played online in a while, and this game brought back a lot of memories.

This game came out right when the Trilogy on DVD did. It had been forever since I had watched it, and I remembered how amazing it was. The story was ever changing and yet smooth. I wanted to play this game afterwards, because I hadn’t been able to play the latest Star Wars titles, and Knights of the Old Republic was a hit. This game was proof that Star Wars video games will never be the same. You could say they’ve grown up since the times of Jedi Outcast.

In this games there are many different single player modes. There was a mode called Historical, where you go through the story line and you cannot select your side in this mode. It starts out during the beginning of the Clone Wars and ends at the end of the Return of the Jedi. There was also the mode called Galactic Conquest where you try to dominate a computer opponent in a number of battles. When you win a battle you can attack their next planet, and if you’ve won four times you can destroy a planet. The third single player mode is instant action, where you can select any map and any side you want. None of these modes were very long however, and they were mostly so the player could get used to the gameplay. Online was a whole new experience as you face off the best and the worst from around the world. Split-Screen was also an awesome feature, where you and a friend can destroy each other or team up to conquer the enemy.

The graphics in this game were awesome, and so was every little detail on sound. Except for the fact that on my Playstation2, online play changed something, and I could hear beeps and high pitched squeals that I know weren’t supposed to be there. Perhaps however, it was just the system overheating, I did play it constantly. All in all I cannot say anything bad about this game, but some fans may be disappointed in the lack of Jedi or Sith. They have their appearances however, but aren’t controllable.
