Review of
Voodoo Vince (XBox)
By Ryan Wellman

Madam Charmaine is what you would call, a gypsy of sorts. She creates a voodoo doll and several other wild potions and mysterious devices. One day, criminals attack her shop and then kidnap her, but accidentally knock over a potion which gives life. As a result Voodoo Vince comes alive, and immediately has a psychic link to Madam Charmaine. Voodoo Vince must destroy anything that gets in his way on his journey. The interesting thing about this game is that in order to hurt certain enemies Vince must harm himself. Vince will drop anvils on his head, light himself on fire, throw himself into a blender, jump onto spikes from high above, and many other suicidal attempts just to destroy any beast that steps in his way.

This game was rather good, and very creative. I liked it quite a bit, but after hours of playing it, it started to get repetitive. Every level just starts getting bigger, and the monsters change, but for some reason, it seemed like there was a lot more they could have done, like after they got the original ideas for the game, they ran out of creative juices. I really expected a little more from a game with such a cool character. I don’t want to talk too much bad about this game though, because in all fairness, it was very fun.

The puzzles in this game were fairly simple at first, but after a while became very ornate and difficult, but very fun. The sound in this game wasn’t anything special, but it wasn’t completely horrible. If you are looking for a fairly decent Xbox game, then search for Voodoo Vince.
